An Economic Daily commentary on November 6 argues that open source and openness have become a vital path for AI evolution and China's key choice for technological autonomy and global governance. It notes AI is moving from "talking nicely" to "working well" - robots now act as store managers, dispense medicine and patrol factories - and that openness lets small firms and researchers build on shared stacks instead of training from scratch. Open collaboration, the paper says, also strengthens autonomous, controllable industrial chains against supply risks.
