According to a November 4 report, DeepSeek raised 105.5 billion yuan (about 15.8 billion US dollars) in a second funding round, with Tencent and CATL as lead investors and state-backed investors taking roughly 27%, up from about 2% in the first round. The round was enlarged mid-process on concerns over rising Nvidia chip prices and to guard against an AI bubble. The capital will support DeepSeek's model development and open-source roadmap as Chinese foundational models attract unprecedented domestic funding.
