China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said on November 5 it has drafted an interim regulation on digital identity management for NEV power batteries and opened it for public comment. The move implements the national action plan to improve the power-battery recycling system and the interim measures on decommissioned-battery recovery and comprehensive use. By giving each battery pack a traceable "digital ID" across its full lifecycle, the rule aims to strengthen whole-chain supervision, raise recycling capacity and support the sustainable growth of the NEV industry as volumes scale.
