Toyota reported on November 5 a second-quarter net profit of 759.4 billion yen, down 19% year on year but ahead of estimates, on sales of 13.44 trillion yen, up 8.6%. The carmaker raised its full-year operating-profit forecast to 3.9 trillion yen from 3.4 trillion and lifted net profit guidance to 3.57 trillion yen, while expanding its share-buyback ceiling to 1.3 trillion yen from 1 trillion. The revised outlook and stronger shareholder returns reset market pricing of Toyota's earnings prospects amid the global EV transition.
