On October 20 the MIIT Equipment Industry Department issued a draft on installation requirements for automotive external lighting and signal devices, clearly banning the ADS indicator light on vehicles that lack L3-level or higher autonomous driving. The dedicated color for such indicators is set to blue-green; previously most L2 assist-driving signal lights used blue. The rule follows a July industry notice and aims to stop automakers from misleading consumers about a vehicle's true automation level, as the boundary between driver-assist and self-driving draws closer regulatory scrutiny.
