China NEV Passenger-Car Exports Jump 138.8% in First Three Quarters as Domestic Sales Cool
China's new-energy passenger-car retail slipped at home even as exports more than doubled, CPCA data showed on October 26. September NEV retail hit about 1.084 million units, down 16.7% year on year, pushing the retail penetration to a record 67% mainly because gasoline-car retail fell 43%. For the first three quarters, domestic NEV retail was 7.758 million, down 12.8%, while NEV passenger-car exports reached 3.887 million units, up 138.8%, roughly a third of wholesale volumes. September alone saw NEV exports of 558,000, up 163.5%. Analysts said overseas markets have become the key growth engine offsetting softer domestic demand, with production and wholesale still rising 9% plus.
