CPCA: NEV Retail at 753,000 Units Oct 1-25, Down 13% Year on Year as Wholesale Rises 3%

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) reported on October 28 that in the first 25 days of October, nationwide NEV retail reached 753,000 units, down 13% from a year earlier and 1% from the prior month, with year-to-date retail at 8.511 million, also down 13%. NEV wholesale by manufacturers hit 1.008 million units, up 3% year on year and 6% month on month, with year-to-date wholesale at 12.458 million, up 9%. CPCA's Cui Dongshu said the usual "Golden September, Silver October" gasoline-car peak has weakened sharply this winter under high oil prices. The data points to a structural bottoming of the market where NEVs keep gaining share even as overall volumes soften.
