Volkswagen China Unveils Locally Developed 'VEGA' Tech Matrix With Hyper Sense 8 L2++ and 2027 L3 Goal
Volkswagen Group China on October 28 unveiled "VEGA," an integrated technology matrix developed locally in China and built for continuous iteration, covering three core pillars: vehicle platform, electrical-electronic architecture and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Relying on its local intelligent-driving center CARIZON, VW launched Hyper Sense 8 (HS8), its first self-developed all-scenario L2++ solution. The group plans to have L3 autonomous-driving functions ready by 2027 and is developing an in-house system-on-chip, C7H, capable of supporting up to L4. Analysts say Volkswagen is converting strength built in the China market into growth opportunities in overseas markets as competition localizes fast.
