SAIC Motor's board approved on November 5 a plan to set up a smart-driving joint venture with autonomous-driving firm Momenta and Yandian Technology, with registered capital of 300 million yuan. Momenta will subscribe 153 million yuan for a 51% stake, SAIC 75 million yuan (25%) and Yandian 72 million yuan (24%). The tie-up is designed to strengthen advanced driver-assistance R&D as domestic carmakers race to build in-house intelligent-driving capabilities rather than rely solely on suppliers.
