Yiwu Firms Redefine 'Small Commodities' by Building Design, Brands and Culture
More Yiwu companies are redefining the value of "small commodities" by moving from selling products to making design, brands and culture, China County Economy News and Economic Information Daily reported on November 2. At the Minghong science park in Suxi town, an innovation-incubation and industry-clustering model is upgrading the cultural-goods sector toward high-end, digital and international development. Huang Changchao of the Yiwu Cultural Supplies Industry Association said the park aims to push cultural products up the value chain. Keqi Culture Development, a park tenant, keeps strengthening original design, proprietary IP and Chinese-style elements; its head Huang Ping said he wants more products rich in Chinese culture to reach overseas markets. The shift, supported by a maturing cross-border service ecosystem of platforms, supply chains, logistics and compliance, lets individual merchants and startups sell globally at lower cost.
