Geely and NIO Strike Battery-Swap and Charging Strategic Cooperation
At the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Congress, Geely Holding chairman Li Shufu called on the industry to reduce redundant investment and share technology and production capacity, and disclosed that Geely and NIO have reached a strategic cooperation on battery-swap and charging services to advance a swapping ecosystem. Li urged peers to revitalize existing capacity through collaboration and jointly tackle intelligent-driving technology rather than duplicating effort, framing high-level sustainable development as the sector's shared goal. The tie-up links Geely's broad vehicle portfolio with NIO's expanding swap-network standard, a sign that battery swapping is gaining cross-brand acceptance as a complementary path to fast charging in China's electric-vehicle build-out.
