Sixteen Departments Move to Clean Up Consumer Chaos in EV Charging-Pile Services
On October 19, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and 14 other departments issued a notice launching the 2026 'Optimize Consumer Environment Month,' which specifically targets consumer chaos in electric-vehicle charging-pile services. The notice calls for focused enforcement and service-quality supervision in key consumer areas, punishing the production and sale of counterfeit goods and the violation of citizens' personal information, and rectifying unfair standard contract clauses that harm consumer rights. Officials said the campaign will be combined with trade-in programs to publicize consumer protections. The move comes as charging-pile coverage expands rapidly with NEV adoption, making service quality and pricing transparency a rising consumer concern.
