Shanghai Releases China's First Humanoid Robot Embodied-Intelligence Standards, Targets 8,000 Robots in Factories by 2028
On Oct 28, the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, with leading firms, released China's first batch of humanoid-robot embodied-intelligence standards: a classification guide grading humanoids L1-L4 by structure, mobility and intelligence, and an intelligence-level guide grading G1-G5 by perception, cognition, decision and autonomy, with six national humanoid-robot standards set for April 2027. Shanghai also issued a new-generation smart-manufacturing action plan promoting "physical AI" equipment, robots, machine tools and inspection gear with autonomous sensing and decision, and aims to put 8,000 humanoid robots into factories by 2028, lifting the robotics sector.
