From 'World Supermarket' to 'Digital-Trade Hub': The Yiwu Vitality Blueprint
A feature on November 1 traced Yiwu's evolution from "world supermarket" to "digital-trade hub." Amazon's Yiwu city living room has helped more than 100 enterprises settle into global sites, lifting their annual sales about 21%, while Mercado Libre's Yiwu operation center has served 200 firms and lifted Yiwu small commodities' share in Latin American markets. As the association's leading unit, Zhengpai has served over 10,000 firms and trained more than 150,000 people with serviced output above 50 billion yuan. In the first three quarters, Yiwu's high-tech manufacturing added value rose 57.4% year on year and digital-economy core manufacturing grew 27.5%, while above-scale service-sector revenue rose 17.5%, with tech services up 52.4%. The logic: SMEs and micro-entrepreneurs compete globally as "light assets" - platforms solve traffic, supply chains solve sourcing, overseas warehouses solve fulfillment, and the association solves compliance.
