China Leads Globally in AI Development Speed and Application Scale, Officials Say
Wang Ruomeng, deputy director of the NDRC's innovation and high-tech development department, said China now leads the world in the speed of AI development and the scale of application, delivering results in building new economic momentum, improving livelihoods and raising governance. He noted AI is moving from the lab into factories, fields and offices, and from single-point pilots to coordinated multi-link deployment across R&D, production and distribution, showing large potential to raise efficiency, cut risk and lower cost. The assessment reinforces the official narrative that China's AI ecosystem has shifted from catching up to setting the pace in real-world deployment.
