BYD's Second-Generation Seagull Passes 140 km/h Blowout Test, Bringing High-End Safety to a 65,900-Yuan Compact
BYD's Ocean Network general manager shared a video of the second-generation Seagull undergoing a controlled blowout test: the car accelerated to 140 km/h on a straight, a front tire was punctured to full deflation, yet the body stayed stable and slowed safely without leaving its lane. Such stability control was previously seen mostly on premium Chinese EVs and plug-in hybrids, but the Seagull starts at just 65,900 yuan. The all-electric hatchback is 4,205 mm long with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, offers 85 kW and 95 kW rear motors and 30.1 and 39.2 kWh LFP batteries with 320-420 km CLTC range, and an optional lidar-assisted DiPilot 300 system with city and highway NOA, pushing advanced safety and driver-assist down to the entry price tier.
