Carmakers Sprint to Year-End Targets as Trade-In Policy and Overseas Push Offset Soft Domestic Demand
Chinese carmakers are entering the year-end sprint, leaning on trade-in subsidies at home and accelerating overseas layouts abroad to consolidate growth, China National Radio reported on November 1. With new models concentrated in showrooms and trade-in policy continuing, October showroom traffic stayed active and trade-up demand was released in an orderly way. Overseas markets have become a pillar of growth: NEV export share has exceeded 50% for four straight months, and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers expects full-year auto exports to top 10 million units. One auto group said its overseas exports reached nearly 200,000 units in the first three quarters, up 138.9%, with its Europe strategy shifting from selling products to building ecosystems and local operations, including a planned European R&D center. Officials urged deeper localization, better user service and mutual benefit with local markets.
